Norton anti virus 2010
Pro Cons

Low performance impact Full scans not quick
Product Overview not free
Norton AntiVirus 2010 (NAV10) is a new security software product for home and home office use. It is advertised to protect from viruses, spyware, bots, and other threats. NAV10 emphasizes proactive security for the end user without compromising system performance; it is claimed to use just over 10MB of memory. Several new technologies for 2010 are included in NAV10. Sonar 2 technology analyzes files and determines whether they should be trusted or not, and Download Insight Protection helps determine the safety of downloads. Insight technology provides users with relevant information on files in their systems, and for more technical users, information about processes in Windows. These technologies are based on a new concept called "reputation based" security that checks files against a Norton database filled with data collected from Norton's user community.
Mcafee total protection
The bad: It might not be clear enough that running a full scan when installing will significantly speed up later scans. There's not much in the way of easily accessible live support, either, so if something goes wrong, it may take a while to get a human on the phone.
McAfee debuts its 2010 product line, introducing an overhauled interface and new features in a bid to remain competitive. The change to its interface is as dramatic a shift as the one that Avast introduced in its 2010 suites, although McAfee's new veritcal look is drastically different from any major security program currently on the market. Most of the features in McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, and McAfee Total Protection are not new, but the presentation is so radical that the improvements are likely to be glossed over. Older users of McAfee should note that VirusScan Plus has been renamed AntiVirus Plus.
